In 1866, Lewiston Falls Academy became Edward Little Institute, named after Edward Little, the president of the trustees, who granted to the academy a large tract of land. In 1873, the trustees turned over to the city of Auburn their title to the property, and soon thereafter the building became known as Edward Little High School.

The annex was purchased in 1948 by the city of Auburn to fulfill the need of more classrooms. In 1950, the garage was converted into a music room by the efforts of the Band Parent's Association.
